Data protection and privacy high on IGF 2016 agenda

During the meeting of the IGF Dynamic Coalition on Internet of Things during the Internet Governance Forum in Guadalajara, Mexico, earlier this month, the PICASSO policy brief on Data Protection and Privacy was very helpful to point out the fundamental differences in approaches of data protection in the world. With technologies that are truly global it is important to consider their impact on European values – and do so from a global perspective. The focus on development of global good practice bringing all stakeholders to the table at equal level is an important contribution of the IGF to developments all over the world.

More than 3000 people from stakeholders from all over the world gathering in Guadalajara, Mexico, on 6-8 December 2016. The IGF Dynamic Coalition on the Internet of Things (http://www.iot-dynamic-coalition.org/) is currently chaired by Maarten Botterman, also chair of the PICASSO ICT Policy Expert Group.
